Last month, Oracle released a new study documenting the impending changes within the retail industry.
Thanks to the advent of new technologies, consumers have an increasing list of demands that retailers must understand in order to adapt to the marketplace.
Here are a few of the more interesting takeaways:
- Customer service is not dead. More than half of shoppers around the world want in-person service, despite the popularity of online shopping.
- Privacy is an issue. 55-percent of shoppers have strong privacy concerns about retailers capturing personal data, which must be addressed. The upside, however, is that an even larger majority recognize the importance of sharing information.
- Shoppers demand technology. A whopping 83-percent of consumers want retailers to invest in new technology.
- Mobile use is skyrocketing. The number of consumers that prefer mobile channels has reached 67 percent—a monumental leap compared to 26-percent of shoppers last year.
